The Scholarship Program began in 1993 when the Scholarship Trail Ride Committee was established. The funds raised went to scholarships for graduating seniors. Along with the proceeds from the Scholarship Trail Ride, 5% of the Livestock and Homemaking Auctions of the Fair are taken as a contribution to the Scholarship fund. Since the program began in 1993 over $2 million has been given in college scholarships.

In 2018, the MCFA awarded a total of $148,000 in scholarships to graduating seniors in Montgomery County! College-bound graduates received 51 $2500 academic scholarships and $20,500 in prize scholarships from a combination of the Fair Queen Contest, Colt Show Hi-Point Program, Replacement Heifer Program and Calf Scramble Program.

Every year, many contributions are made to raise money for the scholarship fund by the following events:

MCFA Scholarship Trail Ride
Elvis and the Legends Show

We are grateful for the participants, contributors and volunteers that support the education of the youth of Montgomery County! In addition to these fundraisers, we have generous in-kind donors as well. The MCFA would like to recognize the following:

The Grainger Foundation

MCFA would also like to thank those who honor the legacy of their family members by asking that donations be made to the MCFA Scholarship fund " In Memory of".
