Each year at the Montgomery County Fair, exhibitors come from all parts of the county to take part in the Junior Livestock Shows. These are a major part of the Fair and culminate with the Junior Livestock Auction. The hope, of course, is Grand Champion, but ultimately the goal is to place in one of the 135 sale slots by winning a top spot in the class the animal is exhibited in.
In order to exhibit an animal in these shows, students must be a member in good standing of a Montgomery County 4H or FFA Club. Exhibitors may choose to show livestock including: steers, hogs, rabbits, lambs, broilers, turkeys and goats in each designated show.
In 2017, the Livestock Auction soared to just under $870K!
The 2018 Junior Livestock Auction will be held on Wednesday, April 18, 2018 at 6:30PM at the Lone Star Convention Center.
