MARKET STEER DIVISIONChairman: Glen Koy Arrival Time – Saturday, March 29th , 7:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. Judging Date – Tuesday, April 1st, 4:00 p.m. 1. This division is subject to the General Rules and these Division Rules. 2. All Market Steers to be entered and eligible to show must be the property of the exhibitor, on feed and under the daily care of the exhibitor by September 4, 2007. Each exhibitor can nose print and register two (2) animals, but may only show one. Exhibitor must present a LEGIBLE color photograph of himself and the Steer at the time of registration. No late pictures will be accepted. Registration will be held on September 4, 2007 from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Steers will be nose printed by Montgomery County Steer Validation Committee. DNA samples will be collected for positive identification. Exhibitors should be present. A parent or guardian MUST be present in order to sign tag-in cards and hair sample envelope. 3. All Steers must have official tag on at time of weigh-in at the Fair. If you should lose your tag, contact the Fair Office at (936) 760-3631. 4. Determination of steer’s classification is to be based upon predominant breed characteristics. Final classification will be conducted by a classifier or classification committee at the date of registration. 5. Steers must be dehorned, otherwise they will not be accepted in the Show. 6. Any Steer showing live testicular tissue will be sifted. 7. Steers must weigh a minimum of 900 lbs. when weighed in. 8. Following completion of placing, the judge will place the sale order of the steers. 9. Steers selected for sale order will be branded on the right jaw by show officials at time of selection of sale order. 10.Champion and Reserve Champion Steer of each breed classification shall return to the judging arena for selection of the grand and reserve champion of the show. 11.Unethical fitting is prohibited including, but not limited to the following:
12. No bedding hay. 13. All animals must be double-tied. 14. Parents or other adults will not be allowed to assist the junior exhibitors during judging. 15. Any Breed may, at the discretion of the Division Chairman, be divided into light, medium and/or heavy classes according to weights at the Show. 16. 17. The use of drugs not approved for Steers used for human consumption will not be allowed. 18. STEERS WILL BE RELEASED IMMEDIATELY FOLLOWING THE STEER SHOW. ALL STEERS MUST BE CHECKED OUT BY 10:00 A.M. THE FOLLOWING MORNING. ALL SALE ANIMALS MUST BE CHECKED OUT BY 10:00 A.M. ON THURSDAY MORNING FOLLOWING THE AUCTION. FAILURE TO DO SO MAY RESULT IN PREMIUMMONIES BEING FORFEITED. RELEASE FORMS WILL BE COMPLETED AND GIVEN TO THE EXHIBITOR, PARENT, AG TEACHER OR 4-H LEADER AT THE TIME OF WEIGH-IN OR WHEN THE EXHIBITOR IS GIVEN THEIR EXHIBITOR NUMBER. ENTRIES ARE DUE IN THE FAIR OFFICE – FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 29, 2008 BY 5:00 P.M. WITH A $20.00 ENTRY FEE. JR. AND SR. SHOWMANSHIP WILL BE OPEN TO ALL EXHIBITORS WHO WISH TO PARTICIPATE. YOU PAY $5.00 (CASH) AT THE ENTRY GATE AND THE WINNER WILL BE AWARDED ALL PROCEEDS AT THE EXIT GATE. |
