GENERAL RULES AND REGULATIONS
AUCTION SALE

1. The Auction is a continuation of the Montgomery County Fair, and all general and Division Rules and Regulations shall apply.

2. Grand and Reserve animals will sell first in the auction.

3. It is expected that approximately 23 steers, 42 hogs, 20 pens of broilers, 10 pens of rabbits, 20 lambs, 15 goats and 5 turkeys will be sold in the Auction; however, the exact number will be determined by the Executive Committee and the Auction Chairman. For the Yearling, Filly and Gelding Division, the following will be sold: 3 – 5 entries – 1 will be sold; 6 – 11 entries – 2 will be sold; 12 – 16 entries - 3 will be sold; 17 – 21 entries – 4 will be sold and over 21 entries – 5 will be sold. Five (5) is the maximum number that will be sold in the Auction. NOTE: ENTRIES MEANING ACTUAL ANIMALS SHOWN ON SHOW DATE. For those divisions selling more than 23 animals, only the top 23 exhibitors will be allowed to bring their own animal into the sale ring. A sale ring animal will be provided for all remaining exhibitors.

4. No distress items will be sold.

5. There will be no resale of animals back to the exhibitor.

6. A place for buyers will be reserved at the Auction.

7. At the end of the Auction all animals must be taken back to the stalls in the show barn. Each contestant must fill out a receipt of delivery stating the wishes of the buyer. The youth will be responsible to see that the animal is maintained and delivered to the buyer on the specified date. Any youth who fails to comply with the feeding and care of the animal will never be allowed to participate in the show again. ALL SALE ANIMALS MUST BE CHECKED OUT BY 10:00 A.M. ON THURSDAY MORNING FOLLOWING THE AUCTION. FAILURE TO DO SO MAY RESULT IN PREMIUM MONIES BEING FORFEITED.

8. Junior Exhibitors who had a Grand Champion in the Livestock Show at the 2007 Montgomery County Fair will not be eligible to compete in that division for the 2008 Montgomery County Fair in which their Grand Champion was exhibited. (This includes substitution roles – See Rule 4, Page ). This rule applies to all Junior Exhibitor Divisions in which Exhibitors are competing to make the respective auction sales. Exception: If an Exhibitor has 2 grand animals and he drops one, he will be able to show the following year in the division he dropped.

9. If an Exhibitor drops a Grand or Reserve Auction item to sell another Grand or Reserve Auction item, no changes will be made in the placement of other animals or poultry.

10. At the Sale Meeting following each show, the Exhibitor must be in attendance. Montgomery County 4-H Managers and Montgomery County FFA Advisors should be in attendance. A parent of each Exhibitor is encouraged to attend. All alternates should try and attend the sale meeting after the Market Steer Show. Contestants are eligible to enter each Division of the Show, however, each exhibitor may sell only one entry in the Auction. AN EXHIBITOR PLACING MORE THAN ONE ANIMAL IN THE SALE MUST NOTIFY THE FAIR OFFICE IMMEDIATELY FOLLOWING THE SHOW IN WHICH THEY HAVE PLACED THE SECOND ANIMAL INFORMING THEM WHICH ANIMAL TO PLACE IN THE SALE.

11. IT IS MANDATORY THAT THE EXHIBITOR BRING THE RECEIPT OF DELIVERY, SOCIAL SECURITY NUMBER, AND ORIGINAL THANK YOU LETTER TO THEIR BUYER TO THE FAIR OFFICE WHEN CHECKS ARE RELEASED ON MONDAY, MAY 19 TH. FOREIGN EXCHANGE STUDENTS MUST ALSO HAVE A SOCIAL SECURITY NUMBER OR A TAX I.D. NUMBER BEFORE CHECK WILL BE RELEASED. THE FAIR OFFICE WILL MAIL THANK YOU LETTERS AND BUYER’S PICTURE. PARENTS AND/OR EXHIBITOR ONLY MAY PICK UP CHECKS. ALL CHECKS MUST BE PICKED UP BY MONDAY, JUNE 9 TH BY 5:00 P.M.

12. Ten percent (10%) will be deducted from the Exhibitor’s check for any and all monies received through the Fair Association. In addition, cost of pictures will be deducted from the Exhibitor’s check.

13. Should a family member purchase their own child’s (whether by blood, marriage, adoption, foster child, exchange student, grandchild, ward, etc.) animal, said animal must be paid for before the exhibitor will receive his/her check from the Fair Office.

14. If an exhibitor is not present to sell his/her animal, the animal will be dropped from the sale.

15. The animal that makes the auction is the animal that is sold to buyer and/or delivered to buyer.
