AGRICULTURAL MECHANICS PROJECT SHOW
CHECK-IN: Thursday, April 12th, 2:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.
JUDGING DATE: Saturday, April 14th – 2:00 p.m.
AWARDS: Saturday, following Judging
CHECK-OUT: Monday, April 23rd, 8:00 a.m. – 12:00 noon
*Purpose of the Agricultural Mechanics Project Show
1. To provide an opportunity for 4-H and FFA members to display projects constructed in agricultural mechanics labs.
2. To promote the development of skills in agricultural mechanics through competition.
3. To recognize individual and groups accomplishments in the area of agricultural mechanics.
4. To provide an opportunity for public appreciation of this important phase of 4-H and FFA programs.
*Awards
Blue ribbon – 90-100 points
Red ribbon – 80-89 points
White ribbon – 70-78 points
Rosettes will be awarded to 1st – 3rd in each division. Plaques will be presented to the overall Grand Champion and Reserve Champion projects of the show. A sweepstakes award will be presented to the school with the most points from all projects.
* Projects will be judged on the following system:
Workmanship-------------------------------30 pts
Design & Materials used--------------------20 pts
Practicality----------------------------------20 pts
Degree of Difficulty-------------------------20 pts
Finish---------------------------------------10 pts
* Rules
1. All Agricultural Mechanics Projects are subject to the Montgomery County Fair Association general rules and regulations.
2. Projects exhibited must have been constructed and fabricated by FFA and 4-H members as part of their agriculture mechanics instruction in Agricultural Science class or as part of their supervised work experience program.
3. All projects must be clean, painted or treated and in presentable condition even through they may have been used.
4. A working plan, blueprint or drawing and photographs showing construction and bill of materials are required to be submitted with each project entered.
5. All projects are to be identified with standard club exhibitor cards or computer generated cards that include the exhibitors name(s), chapter or club, school and project description.
6. A project can be exhibited only one time at the Montgomery County Fair and must have been completed within one calendar year of the exhibition date.
7. Projects may have been individually or group constructed and may be individually or chapter owned. All projects must be entered in the names of the exhibitors who participated in planning and construction of the project.
8. Classes with less than four entries are subject to being combined.
9. Every precaution will be taken to protect the projects entered; however, neither the Montgomery County Fair nor the officials of this show will be responsible for any losses or damages to projects.
10. Appropriate and safe display stands must be provided for gates, panels, and other projects that need support. Sharp edges and points, such as found on self-feeder, roofs, bale movers, etc. are to be padded or covered as necessary to prevent injury.
11. All trailers and other projects to be towed on public roads must meet current Texas Department of Transportation (TXDOT) regulations.
12. There is to be no more than two gallons of fuel in any fuel tank. The fuel tank cap is to be in place and sealed with tape. The battery is to be disconnected. This applies to all engines in the exhibit area.
13. No “For Sale” signs may be placed on projects.
14. All judge’s decisions and announced results will be final.
15. An entry fee of $20.00 will be charged per project entered.
16. Entry forms must be turned in by Friday, February 24, 2012. No late entries will be accepted.

Division II – Electrical Equipment
- Show and livestock equipment
- Shop tools and equipment
Division III – Livestock Equipment
- Gates and livestock panels
- Squeeze chute and restraining equipment
- Trim chutes, blocking stands and livestock moving equipment
- Head gates
- Feeders, self-feeders and creep feeders
Division IV – Wildlife Equipment
- Wildlife feeders
- Wildlife blinds
- Wildlife traps
Division V – BBQ pits – Fire pits
Division VI – Trailers (16 ft. and under)
- Utility trailers
- Stock trailers
- Implement trailers
Division VII – Woodworking – Outdoor
Division VIII – Woodworking - Indoor
