Family Days
April 9 - 11, 2010
Once you pass through the main gate, you are free to spend your time between the numerous events and activites. You certainly will want to visit the livestock barns. There, you will be encouraged at the sight of youngsters from throughout the county, caring for and showing their animals.
If you have little children you might want to visit the petting zoo, where you will be thrilled by the looks on the faces of children as they handle a variety of very tame animals. Be sure to visit goat mountain, the laying hen exhibit, the incubator where baby chicks will be hatching daily and the rabbit exhibit.
Our Rodeo is held on Friday and Saturday nights, and on Sunday we feature a Ranch Rodeo, duplicating actual cowboy jobs. Our Rodeo has the traditional cowboy events, plus several great children's events. Be prepared to laugh during "Mutton Bustin", as little tykes (ages 5-7) ride on the backs of lambs as they pretend to be bull riders. See young ones (under 5) "ride" their "Stick Horses" on the arena floor. Also, for our future rodeo contestants, there is "Barrel Racing" (ages 13 & under) and "Goat Ribbon Pulling " (ages 13 & under). This year, the four Youth Events will take place prior to the actual Rodeo. They will begin at 6:30 p.m. Check with the Fair Office for information & entry forms for these events. The Calf Scramble will continue to be during the Rodeo itself. Our "Calf Scramble" event is filled with pride as you will see our teens work hard on catching a calf for their next year's project. During the Saturday night performance, we will have the crowning of the 2010 Montgomery County Fair Queen.
If you bring your child, be prepared to spend time at the carnival. We believe every child should get to experience the wonderful fun of a carnival.
